GEMCITY Engineering and Manufacturing (GEM) has made an acquisition to enhance our presence in the U.S. medical manufacturing market.

Vistek Medical, Inc., based in Ivyland (Philadelphia), PA, is a contract manufacturer of medical implants, such as small bone implants, which might be used in hand and spine applications, as well as precision, custom medical instruments.
GEM’s CEO, Jim Whalen, says the addition of Vistek Medical makes sense because the medical implant market continues to grow, fueled by the active, aging Baby Boomer generation. Plus, Vistek Medical’s extreme precision capabilities complement GEM’s existing products and customer base, which already includes some medical equipment companies.
GEM and Vistek Medical share similar values, so the acquisition is a good fit. “A lot of what we do can save people’s lives or make people’s lives better,” Whalen stated. “Vistek Medical adds capabilities to what GEM has; we feel that’s another leg on the stool, in a sense, of what we can offer to the marketplace.”
